ECS teacher coordinator works to improve knowledge in education

Kim Lavin, a graduate of Unicoi County High School and East Tennessee State University, is working to improve her knowledge in the field of education.
   She is pursuing a Master's Degree in Education Administration Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate. She hopes to complete academic requirements within a year.
   During the day, Kim is teacher coordinator of The Learning Academy, an alternative school for students in grades 6-12 who have been suspended from regular school for disciplinary reasons.
   Kim said she appreciates the support received from Dr. Judy Blevins, director of schools, and the administrative staff at Elizabethton City Schools. "They have been wonderful to encourage others to pursue higher education goals."
   Prior to joining ECS five years ago, Kim taught at Trinity High School in Euless, Texas. She has 17 years experience in secondary education in the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas area.
   Kim majored in special education at ETSU. Her husband, Keith, manager of Sherwin Williams, Johnson City and Elizabethton, is also pursuing a Master's in Business Administration degree. The couple have two children.
