Urgent need for blood donations at area drives

ÊÊ  The Carolina Blood Services Region continues to urge blood donors to make a blood donation in the next days and weeks. Inventory levels remain low and continue to hover near or below a one-day supply, particularly in type O negative, B negative, and B positive.
In order to meet patient needs in our area, a three-day supply of all blood types is the desired inventory. The need of blood never ends.
Donors must be 17 years of age, weigh 110 pounds and in general good health. A person can safely donate every 56 days.
Several upcoming blood drives are planned. Area merchants have donated door prizes and each donor will receive a heart-shaped balloon, compliments of Balloon-a-tics on Monday, and a flower, compliments of Broyles Florist on Wednesday. To schedule your appointment or for more information, call 928-7541.
