Elderly warned of Medicare prescription card fraud

The Carter County Extension Office has been notified that the Center for Medicare Service has issued a fraud alert regarding Medicare Approved Drug Discount Cards.
Apparently the perpetrator of this scheme are playing off the public's awareness that new prescription card legislation has been passed and are trying to sell a Medicare Approved Discount Card.
The memo says: "As you have opportunity, please let your elder citizens know that no Medicare 'approved' card exists yet, and to check out anyone who tries to sell a discount drug card saying it is Medicare approved. Also, persons should be particularly wary if that person already has specific information about them or their health care issues."
