Mother, husband arrested for assault on teenage son

From Staff Reports

A woman and man were arrested Friday and charged with domestic violence after they reportedly attacked the woman's teenage son and his girlfriend in the parking lot of a county business.
Debora Ann Colon, 42, and Luis Alberto Colon, both of 1240 Riverview Drive, have been charged with assault under domestic violence.
According to reports, a fight started at McCloud Lumber, 5255 U.S. Highway 19E, Hampton, when Debora Colon exited her vehicle and assaulted Heather Collins, 19, who is the girlfriend of Debora Colon's son, John Gray, also age 19.
"Mr. Gray stated he was at work and his girlfriend came to pick him up. Mr. Gray stated that when his girlfriend pulled into the parking lot his mother pulled his girlfriend out of the car and started hitting her," Carter County Sheriff's Department Deputy Dean Jones reported. "Mr. Gray stated that he tried to get his mother off his girlfriend when his step-father grabbed him and threw him to the ground. When he pushed his mother off she started hitting him."
Gray told the officer that his step-father then assaulted him, and his 15-year old brother got out of the car and hit him. He said he had to strike him back in self defense.
Debora and Luis Colon then left the scene with Debora's 15 year-old-son, but their car was pulled over by CCSD Deputy Kevin Cable on U.S. Highway 19E. Debora and Luis Colon were taken into custody.
Both Debora and Luis Colon are scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Jan. 12.
