Commissioners to depart administration
FROM STAFF REPORTS
Two members of Gov. Don Sundquist's
administration will leave their positions at the end of the
month. Safety Commissioner Mike Greene and Personnel Commissioner
Dot Shell will leave the administration to pursue other careers.
Greene was named safety commissioner in 1994.
During his tenure as commissioner, Greene sponsored programs
such as, "You Drink & Drive, You Loose." Greene and the
department's Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division were
also awarded the Federal Highway Administration's Partner
in Safety Award.
"Under Commissioner Greene's leadership we have
made great strides in this crucial area, making Tennessee
a safer place to live and raise a family. Mike is a dedicated
public servant who will be missed," Sundquist said.
Personnel Commissioner Shell was named commissioner
in 1999. Shell has worked to provide state agencies with human
resource management systems. Under her supervision, the department
used several training programs, which increased proficiency
in many other departments.
"I truly appreciate the work Commissioner Shell
has done in leading the Department of Personnel the past two
years," Sundquist said. "She has diligently served the citizens
of Tennessee for almost 30 years, and her absence will be
felt on Capitol Hill."
