Veterans History Project underway

Congressman Bill Jenkins (R) is working with veterans, their families and friends to establish a Veterans History Project in an effort to record personal histories, photographs and documents of those who served in all wars.
In 2000, Congress voted to create the repository of information at the Library of Congress or at military museums, history centers or local libraries and archives.
"There are 19 million war veterans. Each day an estimated 1500 of them die. This project will allow their stories to live forever," Congressman Jenkins said.
The first priority will be to focus on the most senior veterans and supporters, especially those from World War I, World War II and the Korean War, he said.
Documents from those interviewed will be a part of the Library of Congress, American Folklife Center National Veterans History Collection.
