Report available on TVA windmill project

From Staff Reports

   The draft Environmental Assessment of the proposed 20-megawatt windfarm and associated energy storage facility is now available at on the Tennessee Valley Authority Web site.
   As part of its program to develop renewable energy sources, TVA is exploring constructing 14 wind turbines on Stone Mountain in Mountain City. TVA currently operates three wind turbines on top of Buffalo Mountain in Anderson County near Oliver Springs, Tenn., another potential location for the windfarm.
   The project would provide a minimum of 20 megawatts of additional wind power for TVA's Green Power Switch program, a renewable energy alternative that offers TVA customers a choice in the type of power they buy.
   Copies also will be available at the following public libraries:
   * Johnson County in Mountain City;
   * Watauga in Boone, N.C.;
   * Oliver Springs in Oliver Springs, Tenn.;
   * Lawson McGee in Knoxville;
   * Sullivan County in Bristol, Tenn., and Blountville.
   A public meeting will be held Jan. 15 at the Johnson County Courthouse in Mountain City for TVA to receive comments on the draft. The public is invited to attend.
