Hampton Trailer Sales and Parts has served the community since 1968

From Staff Reports

Hampton Trailer Sales and Service has served the community for approximately 26 years. Bill Pearce, A.C. Malone Sr. and A.C. Malone Jr. started the business in 1968.
The business was originally located in Braemar at the foot of Dennis Cove Mountain. According to A.C. Malone Jr., Hampton Trailer Sales and Parts was the first mobile home dealership in Carter County. Six months later, the business was moved to Hampton, adjacent to Brumit's Grill and the famous "Bear Cage."
In 1971, A.C. Malone Jr. left the business to work for the TV cable company. In 1972, Pearce became the sole owner after Mr. Malone retired. Pearce sold new and rebuilt mobile homes.
The business' clients come from North Carolina, Virginia and all parts of Tennessee. "I strongly believe in stocking good products, selling at a fair price and servicing what I sell," Pearce said.
In the mid-1990s, Bill decided to stop selling mobile homes and to concentrate on parts and accessories for mobile homes. A news release states, "This proved to be a wise decision because Hampton Trailer Sales has grown into a very unique business, catering to all aspects of repair and replacing parts for mobile home owners."
Pearce's inventory includes underpinning, windows, doors, bathtubs, showers, anchors, plumbing supplies, faucets, leak kits and many more accessories. "If we don't have it in stock, we'll special order it," Bill said. "We are very customer friendly, and our goal is to satisfy everyone that trades with us.
"Our business has been great, and we appreciate our regular customers and each person that comes in looking for that part or accessory for their mobile home," Pearce said. "Our pledge and promise to all of our customers is we will maintain quality materials, excellent service and reasonable prices."
Pearce was asked if Lowe's coming to Carter County will hurt his business. "Absolutely not," he said. "Our business is very focused on mobile home parts and materials that are not sold in those markets."
Pearce and his wife, Norma Jean, emphasized that they thank God for their business, and they thank all of their faithful customers for trading with them.
Hampton Trailer Sales and Parts is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
The Pearces attend Bethel Church, Gap Creek Road. The couple have two sons, Charles and Kelvin, and two grandchildren, Megan and Nathan Pearce.
