"We look forward to opening our Johnson City office in the spring with a full service branch with a drive-up, ATM, two drive-through lanes, safe deposit boxes and a night depository," a news release states. "We will offer all of our products and services at the branch."
Highlights of the past year, according to the news release, include online bill payment, Silver Savers Club, Visa check cards, high school logo checks, campus club for youth, no penalty CD, two-year Flex CD, rental property, and an overdraft privilege program.
Nine people with a vision of building a better tomorrow joined together 52 years ago "to collectively change their financial futures." They believed that collectively "they could empower themselves to structure an organization that would help people share in a better future."
NCCU has grown with the community over the past 52 years. Serving its membership through the ups and downs of economic change, NCCU has grown strong in its resolve that credit union membership is a better way. "Building on the foundation that working together, the power of unity can change lives, NCCU forges ahead, increasing its membership and offering an expanding number of services."
Open six days a week, NCCU "serves thousands of people, not as numbers...but as members and family. The credit union serves anyone who lives, works or worships in Carter County, Johnson County or Washington County. Full family membership is available when someone joins the credit union."
A full service financial cooperative, NCCU's products include savings accounts, checking accounts, Christmas club accounts, IRAs, certificates of deposit, VISA, VISA check cards, ATM cards, bill payment service, audio response system, discounts to vacation spots, money orders, travelers checks, savings bonds, mortgage loans, auto loans, personal property loans, loans for boats and motorcycles, as well as loans for a variety of other reasons.
All accounts are federally insured up to $100,000. NCCU has been awarded the prestigious Bauer Financial Report's Five-Star rating for the 25th consecutive time. This rating signifies that NCCU is one of the safest financial institutions in the nation.
As a not-for-profit financial institution, and owned and democratically controlled by its members, NCCU operates on a daily philosophy of "people helping people" and "building relationships one member at a time." The board of directors is elected by the members and serves on a volunteer basis. Board members include William L. "Bill" Armstrong, JoAnn Campbell, Kathy Campbell, Vickey Broyles, Wayne Pierce, Raymond Hill, Bill Ritchie, Kay Arnold and Dicky Clark.
NCCU is striving to build a better tomorrow by providing excellent service to its members, the news release states. NCCU "is poised and ready" to serve its membership with state-of-the-art technology, services and products, while continuing to provide personal service to the community.
NCCU's 15,000-square-foot facility enables it to serve its members with three drive-through lanes, drive-up ATM, walk-up ATM, safe deposit boxes, and member service areas.
