ETSU Innovation Lab renovates and
fills 4,000 square-foot addition
JOHNSON CITY -- A 4,000-square-foot renovated
addition to the East Tennessee State University Innovation
Lab is now occupied by three new companies and the expansion
of two existing incubator companies.
The Innovation Lab is located at 2109 W. Market
St., in the former United States Marine Corps Training Center.
In addition to $200,000 in renovation monies, TVA provided
the facility's conceptual design by TVA Technical Services.
The TVA grant included planning, construction, equipment and
furnishings for the project. The architectural design for
the building space was created by Ken Ross Architects of Johnson
City.
Occupants of the new space include expansions
of Yasoo Health Inc. and Banc Intranets. Yasoo Health Inc.
is producing a line of research- and science-based products
for the management and prevention of chronic diseases and
the promotion of wellness. Banc Intranets is developing turnkey
intranet software for financial institutions.
New occupants of the Innovation Lab addition
are MedPartners, Eagle's Landing Technology Solutions, Inc.
and Orison Corp.
MedPartners provides IT and IS service to the
greater Tri-Cities medical health provider community. These
services can include repair and maintenance of a simple PC;
wireless and Internet connectivity and support; and medical
software demonstrations and future business planning.
Currently, MedPartners' range of services varies
from a "very simple PC installation" for a dental practice
to producing an extensive "cost analysis" for an area hospital.
Eagle's Landing Technology Solutions Inc. is
a company specializing in software design, network design
and support, automated documentation options and traditional
transcription. Incorporated in 1999, ELTS began as a medical
transcription service. The company also sells EMR and EMR-lite
software packages for medical practices, "helping clients
move tradition to technology."
Orsion Corp. is a medical equipment company founded
to design, manufacture and market a proprietary ultrasound
technology platform for early breast cancer detection and
diagnosis.
