Lake's Edge Subdivision being developed Shell & Associates

   Dempsey Shell has seen a lot of changes in the 31 years he has provided real estate services to residents of Elizabethton, Carter and Johnson counties.
   During that time, the population of the area has grown, prompting an increase in residential and retail development.
   Shell & Associates, 119 Broad St., Elizabethton, has been at its present location the past 25 years. The agency opened for business in 1971. Offices have always been on Broad Street.
   "Interest rates are the lowest I've seen since I've been in business," according to Dempsey Shell, president and broker.
   Low interest rates have prompted an increase in the number of people, including retirees, moving to Elizabethton, Johnson County and Roan Mountain, he added.
   Shell & Associates handles all kinds of real estate, including houses, farms, commercial property and acreage.
   In 1999, Shell & Associates began developing Lake's Edge Subdivision on a 50-acre tract at Boone Lake, off Enterprise Road and minutes from Johnson City, Bristol and Elizabethton. Seventeen acres are still undeveloped.
   "Lots, ranging from 1/2 acre to 1.5 acres in size, are priced at $40,000 to $97,500. Some lots are lake front. All lots have underground utilities and lake access from a boat launching ramp," Dempsey said.
   Fourteen lots are available now. Seven houses have either been completed or are under construction in Lake's Edge Subdivision.
   Dempsey said the agency has an excellent staff of realtors, including Linda Shell, T. Dempsey Shell Jr., Dean Blevins, Linda Davidson, Sid Davidson, John Hinds, Mark Little and Michael Rocker.
   Linda Shell is the past president of the Elizabethton Board of Realtors and the Northeast Tennessee Association of Realtors.
   Every year since 1997, Ms. Shell has received the Silver Circle Award presented to realtors involved in community, as well as professional association, activities.
